Big Mud De-Medusa is a shadowcast bringing The Rocky Horror Picture Show to life through regular live performances. We strive for an inclusive, fun, creative space where all are welcome. We operate in partnership with the Varsity Center in Carbondale, Illinois.

A shadowcast is a performance where a group of actors (a "cast") acts out scenes in front of a movie screen while the film is playing, acting in synchronization with the on-screen action, most famously for The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It combines live theater with audience participation, with actors wearing costumes and using props to mirror the movie.
Props + Call Outs
The Rocky Horror Picture Show audience participation involves using specific props and shouting "callouts" (callbacks) at the screen during scripted pauses to mock or interact with the film. Essential props include toast, toilet paper, newspapers, and rubber gloves, used at key moments like the wedding, the storm, and Frank-N-Furter’s creation speech.
